As the smallest Ph.D.-granting economics program in the United States, Clark University’s Department of Economics offers doctoral and undergraduate students close collaboration with distinctive faculty. We are committed to providing high-quality teaching, working with students on research projects, and advising them on their academic and career plans.
Welcome to the Department of Economics
Undergraduate Program
As an undergraduate student in economics, you will receive a strong background in economic analysis and choose from courses on topics ranging from international and urban policy to the economics of sport.
Graduate Program
In our doctoral program, you will have access to small classes, faculty who have published in leading journals in their fields, and an intellectual environment where differences in disciplinary approaches need not serve as barriers to learning.
Research
Doctoral and undergraduate students in economics have the opportunity to present research on campus and, in many cases, at conferences. Qualified undergraduate students may be accepted into the department’s Honors Program, allowing for more in-depth research.
Careers and Internships in Economics
As a student of economics, you will gain knowledge and skills highly valued in a wide variety of careers and fields, from business and industry to international development and public policy. Our undergraduate students are well-prepared to pursue graduate school.
