As the smallest Ph.D.-granting economics program in the United States, Clark University’s Department of Economics offers doctoral and undergraduate students close collaboration with distinctive faculty. We are committed to providing high-quality teaching, working with students on research projects, and advising them on their academic and career plans.

Undergraduate Program

As an undergraduate student in economics, you will receive a strong background in economic analysis and choose from courses on topics ranging from international and urban policy to the economics of sport.

Graduate Program

In our doctoral program, you will have access to small classes, faculty who have published in leading journals in their fields, and an intellectual environment where differences in disciplinary approaches need not serve as barriers to learning.

Research

Doctoral and undergraduate students in economics have the opportunity to present research on campus and, in many cases, at conferences. Qualified undergraduate students may be accepted into the department’s Honors Program, allowing for more in-depth research.
